Taste of Rum will be the islands official National Caribbean Rum Festival and Competition. The best place to hold the Event will be at La Arcada @ Paseo La Princesa, Viejo San Juan during the weekend of Memorial Weekend May 24th, 2009. Puerto Rico is known for its world-class rum and as the Rum Capital of The World. There is no better place than Puerto Rico to host such a cutting-edge event. Taste of Rum is a great opportunity to attract new tourist from the Europe, Latin America, United States Mainland and the Neighbor Islands of the Caribbean. Taste of Rum will consist of a two day event where tourist and local visitors will enjoy live music, experience a wide variety of local and international rums, great food from the participating neighbor islands and last but not least a feast of our Puerto Rican joyful energy, culinary and musical richness and culture. The Festival will host a rum competition: The Puerto Rico International Rum Competition. This contest will consist in rum tasting of international and local rums available in Puerto Rico. The Competition will present a panel of judges composed of Famous Rum Experts, Famous Magazine Editors, National TV Anchors and celebrity personalities. The Event aims to attract nation-wide media and news in order to promote our Island as a great Rum and Vacation Destination. The event will cost be $10 for general entrance and $30 for VIP Passes where everyone will be able to enjoy a variety of international and local food and rum. There will be a minimum cover charge to enter La Arcada. This funding will support Sapientis Foundation. THE PRIRC COMPETITION IS NOT OPEN FOR THE PUBLIC.
