toptable video - When the smart, sleek City Cafe went up in Birmingham a while back, hopes were high for a new destination to meet, dine, and hang out, City Cafe has surpassed them all. The very smart and light dining room, with its sleek lines and modern decor, is a terrific spot, as is the terrace outside on the piazza. Head chef Colin Layfield has come with a wealth of delicious experience, including time at Le Petit Blanc, and has created four tempting menus, including a worth-a-trek vegetarian one. The cuisine could be termed modern international.
